Eastland Youth — Parent Updates
What Went Wrong?
• Week 2 Recap
Our second Tuesday Youth Night gave us another opportunity to grow together! We shared pizza and breadsticks, played Bible trivia, and enjoyed conversation that flowed naturally throughout the evening. Thank you for your prayers and encouragement as Eastland Youth continues to take shape.
After a brief recap of Week 1’s reminder that we are made in God’s image, we turned to “What Went Wrong?” We read Genesis 3:1–13, Romans 3:23 and 6:23, and James 1:14–15, exploring how sin affects our lives and relationships.
Sin goes deeper than making mistakes. It is disobedience to God that damages our relationship with Him and with one another. In Genesis 3, Adam and Eve’s response was to hide and shift blame—a pattern we can still recognize in ourselves today.
Yet God sought them even in their hiding. We talked about our need to bring our sin honestly to God, turn from it, and trust His grace. Romans 6:23 points us to the hope at the heart of the lesson: God’s gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.
We sang “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” and “Lord, I Need You,” and prayed together several times during the evening. We closed with a reflection on repentance: bringing something honestly to God and turning from it.
Continue the conversation at home
Ask your student: “Why do we sometimes hide or blame someone else when we’ve done wrong? How does knowing God seeks us help us come to Him honestly?”
If it would be helpful for your family, take a quiet moment this week to reflect on something you need to bring to God and turn from. You might pray together about receiving His grace and taking a step toward repairing a relationship. This is an invitation to continue the conversation, with room for personal reflection.
Please keep praying with us that Eastland Youth will be a place where students feel welcome, ask honest questions, and learn to follow Jesus. We’re grateful to walk alongside your family.
A special thank-you to Tyler for the time and care he’s put into our youth launch. He’s been a great addition. Parents, when you see him, please join us in thanking him.
